Breaking Ground Together
Join us for our Breaking Ground Together event to celebrate a bright new future for people with disabilities and those who support them! All ages and abilities are welcome—because everyone deserves to belong.
Your support and involvement is key to creating a better world by providing an amazing place for everyone to live and learn, regardless of ability.
Many Hands Lifesharing Community is making our world better by creating an amazing place for everyone to live and learn, regardless of ability. This better world allows individuals with disabilities, their families and caregivers to live a full, healthy, and meaningful life connected to others. “Lifesharing” at Many Hands is defined as an environment where staff and individuals with a disability choose to live, grow and support one another. A close-knit environment allows people of differing abilities and ages to develop relationships through the sharing of mutual needs, respect and fellowship.
Everyone shares their gifts and belongs to the community. At full capacity, Many Hands will comprise of 100 people of all ages, living full-time on site. Residents (adults with a disability) represent one third of the 100 person community. the caregivers (called PALs) live with the Residents as families in the community’s 8 homes. Many Hands will provide a setting that cultivates constant and meaningful interactions with others. PALs are individuals who seek experience working in the disability community as well as people dedicated to giving.
Your investment will last longer than a lifetime by educating the next generation to improve the lives of all who are impacted by or work with the disabled. Now we need to build it! The first phase will cost $10 million. The most of the yearly operating budget will be covered by Medicaid and Social Security payments. Many Hands is a Lifesharing learning and living environment where people of all abilities thrive and grow to their fullest potential. Your help is needed to make this a reality
